PROGRESSIONS:
When aspecting progressions, give no more than 10 orb in each direction. An applying
aspect is usually stronger than a waning one. Realize that the slow planets like Jupiter,
Saturn and the Transcendentals move as little as 1 to 12 minutes per day and cannot form
new aspects every year. The years the aspect is within minutes or being partile - that's
the time to watch for its effectiveness.
Remember that aspects formed between progressed planets can cause only TRANSITORY effects
and might not even be noticed by the native, whereas aspects formed from the progressed
planet to the natal are extremely important.
Always do a minor 'overview' to see the new distribution by element and quality, check
if there are any new configurations, if there is a different pattern, if a predominance
of planets are above or below, East or West. Also check if a planet is at 29 or 0 , if
a planet has changed signs, has changed house position. The same goes for the Ascendant
and MC.
The progressed chart shows the life patterns and trends for any particular year; the
coiled up energy locked up within the individual is released at a ratio of a day for a
year. It is a symbolic picture of what is going on in the individual's thoughts, feelings and attitudes toward life. Attitudes are of the greatest importance, because through
them we create our own destiny. Progressions help us determine these attitudes and, we
hope, change those that are negative.
TRANSITS ARE THE OUTER WORLD AFFECTING US - PROGRESSIONS ARE THE CHANGES OF OUR
CONSCIOUSNESS WITHIN BRINGING THE CORRESPONDING CHANGES OF THE ENVIRONMENT WITHOUT.
Secondary progressions are strictly inward oriented or attitudinal, except for the
Secondary Moon which can show us timing and can tick off certain happenings. Solar
Arc progressions are partly attitudes and partly timing devices. The Solar Arc Ascendant and MC (often called significators) and the Sun and Moon can work as timers. At
times even Mercury and Venus. In other words. the fastest and most personal points.
Transits are always event oriented and as stated above, your attitude toward the event
can change the outcome of the event. Most people have a key planet that becomes their
timer. I have not found a reason why this particular planet will be the ticker-of f.At
times it is the chart ruler, at times the final signature (type), at times the most aspected or the highest placed - no set pattern unfortunately. So go back in your own
life and see how aspects affected you by progression, then you may be able to determine what they will do in the future.
ALWAYS KEEP THE NATAL CHART IN MIND. A natal square which by progression becomes a trine
is the ideal timer to use the challenge and action of the square in the flow of the trine.
A progressed square of two planets that natally had no aspect or an easy one, is not
going to work as tension producing as a natal square becoming square again by progression.
Very important and always key times in the live of the individual are progressed and or
transits ticking off a grand configuration. This is most noticeable when a natal T square
becomes a grand cross by progression. A dynamite aspect.
TRANSITS: Why do we seem more relaxed or in a better mood one day than the other? Maybe
Venus is transiting over our Sun or Moon. Fleeting but pleasant and we respond to it unconsciously. Nerves on edge? Maybe Mercury is transiting over natal Mars. Kind of blue?
Maybe Mercury is going over Saturn. On the other hand when Saturn transits over natal
Mercury it will last much longer and calls for patience, because Saturn moves slowly and
thus will transit over Mercury for quite a while, and it will conjunct it 3 times since
it advances, retrogrades and then advances again. THE LONGER THE TRANSIT, THE MORE FARREACHING ITS EFFECT. This aspect by the way is excellent for concentrating and studying.
Saturn transiting the second house for example is a good time to make resources more
permanent, be they skills of finances; by stabilizing your affairs you would be handling
Saturn's energies positively. After all Saturn is the necessity principle.
These just a few examples to show you the different applications of transits.
